Construction of a new amenities building has been completed at the Mark Leece Sporting Complex in St Clair which will give a major boost to local sporting clubs.
The new amenities block includes female-friendly change rooms, disability access, greater storage facilities and new inbuilt seating for spectators. This important development was funded through a $1.285 million grant from Round 1 of the NSW Government’s Greater Sydney Sports Facility Fund and $415,000 from Penrith City Council.
Member for Mulgoa, Tanya Davies welcomed the completion of the upgrade which will provide sporting infrastructure that will help keep the St Clair community healthy and active.
“Sport is a vital part of the St Clair community,” Mrs Davies said.
“The new building at Mark Leece Sporting Complex will enable St Clair residents to enjoy the benefits of regular activity and exercise at an inclusive and modernised community sport facility.”
“In addition, it is projects like the new amenities building to the Mark Leece Sporting Complex that make a meaningful contribution to the local economy and boost sport across Western Sydney.”
Penrith Mayor Tricia Hitchen said the Mark Leece Sporting Complex is the latest sportsground to receive an upgrade to improve sport and recreation infrastructure across the Penrith LGA.
“It is important we provide our local sports clubs, including the St Clair United Soccer Club and St Clair Netball Club, with access to high quality facilities to support their current members and future growth as our community expands,” Cr Hitchen said.
