Tanya Davies, Member for Badgerys Creek, has been successful in her efforts to save the Mamre Road Upgrade Stage 1 from the chopping block following the release of the 2023/24 NSW Budget earlier last week.
After tirelessly lobbying the Minns Labor Government and Prue Car, Minister for Western Sydney, to prevent the cancellation of the Mamre Road Upgrade Stage 1, the Budget revealed a commitment of $253.6 million over the next four years, with $7.6 million allocated this financial year alone.
Mrs Davies stated, “I’m thrilled to confirm the continuation of funding for the Mamre Road Upgrade Stage 1—a major initiative initially commenced under the Liberal and Nationals Government.”
“Furthermore, our push to secure planning funds for Mamre Road Upgrade Stage 2 has been fruitful. As this upgrade unfolds, I will keep the community informed and hold the Labor Government to account.”
“I also want to express my gratitude to everyone in the community who backed me in my endeavours: those who penned letters, engaged in phone discussions, and participated in my lobbying efforts. Our collective voice was too loud for the Government to ignore.”
Both Stages 1 and 2 of the Mamre Road Upgrade are crucial for the future well-being of families and enterprises throughout Western Sydney. The upgrade promises enhanced road safety, improved travel time, support for future economic and demographic growth, and an augmented active transport infrastructure for activities such as walking and cycling.
