Tanya Davies MP, Member for Badgerys Creek, unleashed on Labor during a speech in NSW Parliament last night for failing to deliver certainty on the construction and connectivity of the road network surrounding the Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport. Labor have wasted critical months when they announced recently essential road upgrades would be cancelled only to backflip this week in re-announcing this funding.
“Labor cannot be trusted to be the builder and investor for our communities,” Mrs Davies declared in her passionate speech.
Mrs Davies stated that these political games are costly to our economy as they impact investor and business confidence in our region, arguing that a cancellation and reinstatement approach of simple, commonsense and urgent infrastructure projects sends a poor message to those who seek to invest in our region and who substantially base their decision-making on Government vision and decisions.
Whilst the advocacy of Mrs Davies and her Coalition colleagues ensured that Labor backflipped and restored funding towards the Coalition’s vision, Mrs Davies argued that “Labor members must now put politics aside and just get the job done” and encouraged them to “add some of their own vision for how they see the State growing.”
She also criticised Labor for failing to commence construction on Stage 1 of the Mamre Road upgrade. “The NSW Labor Government continued the funding to Mamre Road Stage 1 that was allocated by the former Coalition Government.” Mrs Davies added “But my community is yet to see one shovel in the ground under this Labor Government.”
Mrs Davies will continue to strongly advocate for her community, regardless of the party in power.
