Tanya Davies MP, Member for Badgerys Creek, has criticised Labor for failing the Badgerys Creek electorate and NSW with the NSW Budget.
The NSW Labor Government Budget confirms that the Government will collect more revenue than any government in the history of our state but doesn’t offer a cent for new cost of living support. Households and businesses across NSW are being left behind during a time when they should be supported by their Government.
Mrs Davies stated, “Wherever I go within my electorate I speak with families, pensioners and small business operators who are all saying the same thing – we are struggling to make ends meet. Small businesses should be the engine room of the NSW economy and especially here in Western Sydney. Yet they are struggling under financial and economic headwinds with no end in sight.”
While the Budget spruiks new housing for essential workers, at the same time Labor’s $1.5 billion land tax grab not only breaks their promise of no increased taxes, but will make the housing crisis worse by forcing up rents as well as imposing more costs on struggling small businesses.
Through Mrs Davies’ continued advocacy, funding has been provided to continue some projects commenced by the former NSW Coalition Government, including:
- $1 billion for Mamre Road Stage 2 between Erskine Park and Kemps Creek (combined state and federal funding). This follows over $200 million in funds committed by the previous NSW Liberal Government to Mamre Road Stage 1.
- $230 million (combined state and federal) to continue the vision of the former Liberal Government and add a separated four-lane dual carriageway on Mulgoa Road Stage 2 between Glenmore Parkway and Jeanette Street.
- $800 million (combined state and federal) for widening of Elizabeth Drive with four lanes connecting Mamre Road and The Northern Road to the Airport.
Other local investments include:
- Oran Park Public School Upgrade – Stage 2: $541,000
- Planning for Eastern Ring and Badgerys Creek Roads: $6 million
- 10 school crossing supervisors: $250,000
- Sydney Metro linking St Marys with Western Sydney Airport: over $2.5 billion
- Construction of M12 Motorway between the M7 Motorway and The Northern Road: over $404 million.
“I will continue to advocate for my community so that we get our fair share from this Government,” concluded Mrs Davies.
