Tanya Davies MP, the Member for Badgerys Creek has celebrated the completion of the new Factory Road shared path, funded through a $4.46 million grant she secured for Penrith City Council through the Get NSW Active Program, which was an initiative of the former Coalition government.
The three-metre-wide path starts from Mulgoa Road and runs the length of Factory Road in Regentville before connecting to the popular Tench Reserve, providing the missing link between Glenmore Park and the Nepean River.
“The completion of the new Factory Road shared path is a win for better health and a win for reducing congestion on local roads by providing an important and safe link for pedestrians and cyclists between Glenmore Park and the Nepean River,” Mrs Davies said.
“I am pleased to have secured funding for the path’s construction through the Get NSW Active Program, and I will continue to work hard advocating for projects that encourage a healthy lifestyle for the people of Badgerys Creek.”
The Factory Road shared path project includes two new crossings with lighting along Loftus Street and Spencer Street, new kerb, guttering, drainage, and road pavement improvements, and landscaping.
Penrith Mayor Todd Carney said the path provides a much safer way to walk, run and cycle along Factory Road.
“Making sure people can easily travel around the local government area is a focus for Council as part of our community strategic plan,” Cr Carney said.
